The 5 People You Meet in Every Sorority Chapter

Every chapter is different! We say that every member is unique and at the end of the day that is true however we all have a few people that you will find in absolutely every chapter!

1. Miss TSM

This formal superlative is used to describe your chapter's Starbucks loving, Kate Spade toting, cooler painting, srat-tastic sister! I'm my chapter's Miss TSM (at least for another two weeks) so this girl is usually someone I can relate to in every chapter!

2. The Hippie

While she may not always be rocking a flower crown, you can expect that she always has a little something boho on. She's the one that knows about the best music and the latest yoga trends. Shoutout to her if she is influencing everyone to pick up a hula hoop!

3. The Library Dweller

She is personally responsible for maintaining your chapter's GPA. If you need a study buddy, this sister is your girl. I think she has stopped paying rent to her apartment and now makes a check out to the library every month.

4. The Back Row Senior

When the president calls for new business, this girl is the first with her hand in the air with a comment on something or another. She cares so much about your chapter that she is terrified about what will happen when she leaves so she is throwing everything into her last semester!

5. The Real MVP

There is a sheet sign that is due for Derby Days in 24 hours. This is the first person you will text. Homecoming week is two weeks away and you need someone to step up as the chair? She will volunteer to help out and she will kick ass. This girl always comes in clutch so don't take her for granted and make sure to save her a spot on the tabling sign up!

Here's to these 5 lovely ladies! We love you!

4 Apps Every College Girl Needs

The one thing we keep on us at all times is our smart phone. We try to live without it but let's be real it's attached to our hand pretty much 80% of the time. We may as well make good use of the 15 GB in our lives.

1. Pocket Expense - This is an app that I use to track my finances. It's amazing to use for budget management, tracking your bills and keeping your accounts organized. I love it because it allows me to see where my money is being spent and where I'm going over budget. It enables me to adjust monthly and see a month in a review that shows me when I am spending more money than I have.

2. Adobe Reader - I don't know about you but almost all of my professors send me articles, assignments and syllabuses in pdf format. When I use the Adobe Reader app, I can access all of these pdfs whenever I want. My favorite feature is being able to sort and save all of my pdfs.

3. Quizlet - Flashcards are the easiest way to study on the go, but who wants to put up with all of the paper, I know I sure don't. Using the Quizlet app, you have access to all of the online flashcards from the Quizlet site as well as the ability to make you own!

4. Your Chapter's Website Made into an App - So this isn't an app that you can find in the app store but it's certainly one you'll use daily. Both Apple and Android give you the ability to bookmark frequently used websites into apps on your home screen. Auto save your login information and have all of your chapter information at the click of a button!

What apps do you use daily?

A Few Things to Remember in 2015

Each new year, we set resolutions to make ourselves better. Each new year, we strive to be healthy or to study more. Each new year, we often forget a few things that stress us out in our resolutions. Here are 6 things to remember with your New Year's resolutions.

1. A cupcake won't break your diet goals. Nor will that slice of pizza you are craving nor the candy bar that you throw into your basket at the grocery store. Eat that cupcake! Treat yo self!

2. One bad grade doesn't make you a bad student. Make up for it next time by studying extra hard for your next test and make sure to get all of your other assignments in on time!

3. Looking perfect everyday is impossible and striving for that isn't worth it. Instead shoot for being pulled together when you need to be pulled together and as long as sweatpants only make their appearance every once in a while you're okay.

4. You will go over budget. It's fine. Cut back and adapt accordingly when you do. Try to avoid going over by limiting how often you eat out and if you won't ever wear something you bought out with friends, return it!

5. Sometimes it's hard to spend more time with family when you are away at school. Try scheduling 2 weekly phone dates with your family.

6. Being less stressed is a ridiculous mission that you will fail at! Volunteer or find other ways to relax that you can incorporate into your schedule. Goals like this are way easier to make happen!

Accept that everyone makes mistakes and that it's not that serious if you don't maintain all of your resolutions!

10 Books to Read in 2015

I am not sure about you, but I am an avid book reader! I can spend an entire weekend holed up with a good book and have no regrets when I finish it in in two days. Many people list "read more" on their New Year's resolutions yet have no action plan or way to accomplish this goal. Many don't even have a list of books they would like to read. I have compiled a list of books that every college girl should read this year!

1. Girl Boss - Read the story of Sophia Amoruso and how she built her Nasty Gal empire. She gives great advice through the book and has sparked the #GirlBoss movement.

2. Yes Please - Who doesn't love Amy Poehler? This book is full of fun stories from Amy herself. She will inspire you, make you laugh, and challenge you to become a better you!

3. Looking For Alaska - With John Green being one of the most popular authors for teens and young adults, it makes sense that you should read more of his work. This story follows a teenager on his journey and makes many pit-stops on topics such as love.

4. The Happiness Project - Gretchen Rubin decided one day that she wanted to dedicate her life to being happy. That is where the Happiness Project began. Dedicating one full year to happiness and chronicling her journey, Rubin brings us not only a good read but a new lifestyle.

5. Packing Light - I found this book through a fellow travel blogger. It shows the story of a college grad as she travels through all fifty states in a year in order to learn more about herself and living with less baggage.

6. I Was Here - If you are looking for a more heart-wrenching fiction read, pick up I Was Here. This story beautifully portrays the darker sides of friendship and will be a story that sticks with you forever.
7. Not That Kind Of Girl - This book is a collection of essays written by Lena Dunham that will make you feel as if you are getting a sneak peek into a interesting life. From the essays, you will learn valuable lessons and also understand the situations she has been in.

8. After - If you want a classic, easy to read, somewhat cheesy love story then this is the perfect book for you! The first in its series, this book will introduce you to Tessa and her new friend Hardin. You will see how her life changed once she met this guy and you will fall in love with the characters.

9. Paper Towns - John Green seems to be all the rage these days and Paper Towns is another book that perfectly display his intelligence. Q and Margo are quite the pair in the story and they have experienced quite a lot together. This book will take you through their experiences as you read and you will quickly become entranced.

10. Dark Places - If mysteries or chiller stories are more your style then definitely pick up Darn Places by Gillian Flynn. If you have read Gone Girl then you know sort of what to expect, but if not you will begin questioning your own sanity as you read each page of this book.

Thankful

Tomorrow is one of the few days that most people really stop and think about all they are thankful for and I'm just as guilty as the next person. We joke that we are #blessed but never really remember to thank those who do so much for us. In order to break the habit, I took this month and have written down one thing that I am thankful for each day and it has been an eye opener. I think I may keep up the habit the cause being gracious makes people want to be around you and help you and just makes you happier overall. Here is what I am thankful for (the number corresponds to the day of the month):

Top 5 Starbucks Drinks of the Season

It's that time of the year again... Starbucks season. Time to shamelessly spend an unspeakable amount of money on those perfect, little, red cups. Whether you want to see if your go to made the list or if you are looking into expanding your Starbucks world, you have come to the right place!

5. Peppermint Mocha

It's only around for a short time folks! The peppermint in this drink reminds you of eating what felt like hundreds of candy canes as a child, yet the fact that it is coffee reminds you that you're a "grown-up" now and overeating candy canes is no longer acceptable. Picking up one of these is sure to bring back feelings of nostalgia and happiness.

4. Caramel Macchiato

It has caramel in it! Need I say more? Also, when someone asks what you are drinking, you will ooze class when you respond with "caramel macchiato." This is a timeless drink that will never let you down.

3. Gingerbread Latte

Slightly spicy, exceptionally sweet, the gingerbread latte is another seasonal drink that is sure to put a smile of your face. It will take you back to the days of snagging a gingerbread man before your mom caught you and will remind you of how great it felt to get away with a tasty treat with each sip.

2. Cinnamon Dolce Latte

It is sweet and cinnamony and when topped with whip, it can create extreme feelings of happiness. There is no going wrong with this drink.

1. Pumpkin Spice Latte

With #pumpkinspice having nearly 450,000 photos and #psl having almost 300,000 photos on instagram, there is no doubt that this beauty would hold down the number one spot. If you see a sister with a Starbucks cup there is about a 50% chance it will be a PSL. It has an amazing taste and and even better scent and is perfect for fall! There are many re-creations of the PSL but none as good as the Starbucks one!

Did your favorite Starbucks drink make the list? If not, which one do you love? We love suggestions!
